"It's Kind Of Really Cool"

One of Reese's favorite phrases right now, "It's kind of really....." She uses the phrase when she really likes something.

Well, tonight she applied it to her outing with her daddy. Trey took her golfing at the golf store. She LOVED it. And he.....well, he's on cloud 9 because the girl can naturally swing and make contact with the ball. And so, she came home and was telling me all about it, and I got it on video. Love her hat....

In fact, she just walked up the stairs to go to bed and she looked at Trey and said, "I want to go and play golf with you again tomorrow, Daddy." Watch out golfing world.

I'm thinking that a weekend at home was just what we needed.

Fact

Oh, and I'd also like to thank Landry for putting her leftover banana in the clean clothes basket. However, I can't be too upset with her after the poor thing had to go to the dentist this week because she knocked a tooth backwards and another is loose from a big fall.

Good Attitude

It's Saturday morning. I just asked the girls what we should do today. Hailey's response, "Well, we're in the middle of having the best day EVER. All the sissies are playing Zingo (they were) and then we're just going to hang out as a family all day."

Sounds good to me!

Planned Versus Reality

Today's Plans Included:

1. Having kids go to school (Thurs is my one day to have a few hours to myself and last Thurs we were all iced in).

2. Going to mall to pick up a dress for an upcoming wedding.

3. Taking cupcakes to Landry's preschool class to celebrate her 2nd birthday.

4. Getting a pedicure for upcoming wedding.

5. Running errands to various stores, including dry cleaning and picking up Valentine's presents for certain people since we will be gone this weekend.

6. Doing laundry and getting ahead of the ballgame.

7. Possibly have a normal adult lunch.

Reality

1. School delayed by two hours for Hailey and for preschool.

2. I drank too much caffeine last night so I was wide awake until 2 AM. Therefore dragggggging today. When will I learn my lesson?

3. No mall.....thus far.

4. No errands.....thus far.

5. Took cupcakes to Landry's class and listened to Landry and Reese scream and cry why little two year olds just wanted to eat yummy cupcakes. Landry screamed because Reese was in a stroller and because I was paying attention to her. Reese screamed because she felt sick and wanted to go home (really, I didn't blame her, but until I can divide myself by 2 or get an assistant, sometimes, we've just got to suck it up).

6. Reese has a fever. Decided to take her to the doctor. She has strep. They also suspect Landry might have it too.

7. Spent much time waiting on meds. Shoveled a Sonic salad in 5 minutes due to my stomach refusing to stop growling while waiting on meds.

8. No pedicure, no laundry, no dry cleaning, no Valentine's presents.

In the big picture, so not a big deal. In my type A world, so exhausting. The good news....this weekend is going to be tons of fun and Trey and I get to hang out together, sans children. God bless Granni!!!!

Dead Meat

This was a laundry basket, full of clean, folded, organized by girl and drawer clothes ready to be put away. Landry is now using her two's to the fullest.....she may need a new place to live soon...

A Tidbit Of Info

I am not a technology person. In fact, my two least favorite stores to visit are car dealerships and cell phone stores. UGH. And, the computer store isn't too far behind. I do have an iphone, but that's only because Trey shut down my very old flip cell phone without telling me and transferred his iphone to me (he couldn't use it for business stuff anymore). After two weeks of having it, he discovered that at the place he worked, they had just come up with a way for him to be able to actually use an iphone, but by that point I had adjusted to it and there was no way he was getting it back!

Anyways, years ago when podcasts came out, I didn't even really take the time to learn what they were. In fact, itunes can still confuse the heck out of me at times. However, about 6-8 months ago, I went searching around on podcasts to see if there was any type of Christian ones that I would like. And, I found Breakaway.

Breakaway is a non-denominational, Christian bible study that meets once a week at Texas A&M. Trey and I attended the gatherings when we went to A&M and loved it. We discovered that you can download them (for free...score!) and that Breakaway still feels just as relevant to our lives now even though we aren't in college. I personally listen to them on the treadmill at the gym and Trey likes to listen to them in bed at night. It often times leaves us feeling inspired, challenged, humbled, much more educated, and motivated to improve ourselves as Christians.

So, if you're looking for a little something new in your life, I highly recommend checking out the podcast. Currently, the book of Mark is the focus of the study. It's amazing.

Where Am I???

Landry says, "For goodness sakes, come inside and get out of this cold! What state do we live in anyways, Alaska?"

Three days of ice. And this morning, over six inches of snow!

Good thing we've got angels living around us.

We even went sledding as a family again today! And then, after dinner, Trey caught the girls warming themselves by the fire.

Just checked the forecast....should be around 70 degrees by next weekend. Thanks winter for stopping by!

Ice Ice Baby!!

Last Sunday afternoon: 76 degrees outside and I was playing tennis, soaking up the sun.

Last Monday afternoon: After seeing many posts on facebook about a storm coming in, I decided to check the weather. I saw that ice was coming our way. I thought, "huh, can't be THAT bad, right? I was just playing tennis 24 hours ago!"

Tues 3:00AM: Wasn't sleeping due to loud pelting noises hitting the house. Huh, maybe it IS bad.

Hailey has now been out of school for THREE days and I'm pretty sure she won't go back tomorrow. The roads are clearing, but there is a lot of ice here. So much so, that after we ventured out today (two full days at home, this mama needed some gym time and the girls needed a place to run!) we weren't able to get back into our garage due to one slippery driveway. Oh and did I mention that there's been rolling blackouts?

Weather like this reminds me of a few things....I love living in normally a warm weathered place (it's fun to have a few ice days because they are RARE. Let's keep it that way Mother Nature Lady) and I am thankful we have a garage and I don't have to scrape windshields anymore!

So, what's a family to do? Well, honestly, I've enjoyed it for the most part. We've played and made up games, used the Wii, actually stayed on top of the laundry (Trey must think he's in another house to not have all wrinkled clothes sitting in a basket), cleaned closets, read books with the girls, and been a bit creative here and there.

So today, we pulled out the camera!

Hey Reesie....you're so cute. Why do you still have that binkie? Well, that's because you sleep well with it and your father and I are too tired to actually take it away from you. Plus, we know you, you'll start chewing on random things!

Favorite item of the ice days....cardboard boxes. Favorite game....balloon tennis (totally made up).

Hailey put together her very own outfit. Hot pink jeggings+ Cowboys jersey+extra sparkly headband=one rocking fashionista.

Dyed vs. Died

Hailey: Momma, my hair is dark blonde.

Me: Yep, you know who also used to have blonde hair?

Hailey: Daddy, I know.

Me: Maybe someday your hair will be dark like daddy's!!!!

Hailey: I don't think so.

Me: Well, maybe it'll stay blonde or turn my color of brown.

Hailey: You don't have brown hair Mom! Your hair is dark red.

Me: Well, that's because I dyed it. It's normally just brown though. Plus, you think my hair really looks that red?

Hailey: Yep. And.....so you're telling me that your hair is DEAD now?

Me: HUH? Ohhhhhh......I get it.

I love her.
