The Go-Gos, Week 2

In a major change of events this morning, the Go-Gos took home their first victory!!! And Hailey...well, don't count her out because she scored FOUR goals today (one of them may have been in the wrong goal, but she kicked it with authority!). She ran, she kept chasing the ball and I couldn't help but cheer really loudly. I was so proud of her. When it was over she said, "Mom, I scored some goals today!!! And, I think I got a lot of exercise!" She is the player in pink in the picture. This is her scoring goal #1.

You Know It's A New Generation When...

....your two year old can be motivated to use the potty by offerring her an iphone to pass the time.
And in other Smith news this weekend, we have a score to report from the Go-Go's first soccer game. They were defeated...15-2 (I say 15...we lost count). It wasn't pretty. One girl from the other team figured out how fun it was to put the ball into the goal, which spelled trouble for our girls. However, Hailey said she had, "so much fun." I asked her what her favorite part was, and she said, "I touched the ball a few times. Mom, in practice I kick the ball in between the cones, but today, I didn't score....I just touched it." And then she said, "Hey Mom, did you see that really big and pretty butterfly out there?"

Ummmm....she is unlike her mommy on this one. I was the child that found much pleasure in SCORING rather than the nature surrounding the game :). As long as she likes it though, that's all that matters to me!

A Great Birthday

I had a great birthday today. The reasons why, well it can best be summed up by lists of "I Did Not" and "I Did"

I Did Not:
1. Change a diaper today
2. Vaccuum, pick up toys, wash or fold laundry, or do dishes
3. Get up early with the girls

I Did:
1. Go to church with the fam, which is always a great way to start the day
2. Play an hour of tennis
3. Get a pedicure
4. Receive a NEW camera to take pictures of these growing girls
5. Go to a movie and dinner with my hubby
6. Get the CUTEST card from Trey and the girls which listed why each of them loved me.

Thank you to all of my friends and family that called, e-mailed and texted me today. I am reminded of how blessed I am with the friends and family that I have.

Last year I was pregnant, the year before that, Reese was only 2 months old....so it felt good to just be myself this year! For the first time in a few years, I've got a very positive outlook on the upcoming year. I think 32 is going to be fantastic!

Wake Up Landry!

Landry loves jumping in her exersaucer. Landry loves her naptime. When combined, it provided Trey and I with priceless entertainment. She has never done this before and doubt she ever will again, but I'm glad we caught it on video the one time that this did happen. May I add that I love how smiley and happy this 7 month old baby is?!

Cuddling

I mean...he gently climbed up onto the couch and laid down right in front of me. Who can resist a dog as wonderful as this? I even shared my pillow with him. He is "The Prince."

Go Cowboys!

Fall is in the air. Therefore, I've lost my husband for the next few months to another man and he's trying to suck the kids in with him. Hailey started chanting Tony Romo's name in the car on the way home from church. Go Cowboys!!!

Did You Have To Call Poison Control Today?

I did! Do I even need to say for which child the phone call was directed? Yep...we came home from the gym, I was getting ready to feed Landry, then I noticed Hailey was playing near me and it was WAY TOO QUIET! I immediately went for my bedroom and found the door shut (she only shuts it when she's into something she shouldn't be....she's no dummy....blocking the noise for some extra time), opened the door and found her in my bathroom, going through MEDICINE. She even broke through the child-proof lock. When I saw white powder on her tongue and pills on the floor I knew that I had to make THAT call to poison control. UGH. I love her. I really do. It's Friday though and this mom is tired of destruction and now poisoning in my house. HELP!!! :)

And They're Off

To preschool! Hailey and Reese both started preschool this week, so it was me and the little Landry at home for two days! Hailey is in Transitional Kindergarten this year. She goes four days a week for 5 hours. Basically, it's a half day kinder class. She is LOVING her teachers and school....which makes drop off time a breeze!

And Reese is going two days a week. She has the same teachers that Hailey did when she was 2 years old. Reese's teachers sent home a sheet to fill out on her and one of the questions was, "Is there anything we should know about your child?" I mean, really? If you've read this blog you'd know that there are MANY things I could tell them about her....but instead I wrote, "Well....you know how you two had to pry Hailey off of your legs on the playground because she only wanted to be with you? Trust me, that won't happen with Reese." Reese has had an easy adjustment too. She sees Hailey go into her classroom, which makes her want to be like her big sister!

This Girl....

She may be curious, into everything, a ball of fire, and highly spirited, but she is also very affectionate, always up for a good time and she loves both of her sisters very much. I am thankful that she is not malicious...even when she is destroying something in the house. It is never ill-intentioned, she just has a mind that must see everything for herself. Trey and I are positive that she is going to use all this energy and her outgoing personality to do some incredible stuff in this world....I love watching her grow up. And those big, brown, beautiful eyes....they melt my heart everytime....

Tania sent me all the pictures she took at camp of us. What a gift. Below are two more of my favorites and they remind me of what a great weekend Camp Ozark was for us. Trey loved walking with Hailey as she rode those horses. In fact, Trey loves spending time doing any type of activity with the girls. He is amazing with them and they think the world of him. Hailey often asks him at night when he's putting them to bed if he has to go to work the next day or if he can stay home and just play with her. When it's a Friday and he says he's staying home, she always cheers out loud. It's so cute. I feel blessed to have him as my best friend and for the girls to have him as a dad.

The GoGo's

Hailey started SOCCER!!! I was so afraid she wasn't going to like it (remember, she isn't so big on sweating and we do live in Texas). However, she LOVES it! Guess who her coach is....her daddy! He reported tonight that she's doing great and is right in the middle of everything. I think it helps that her team (the GoGo's) color is pink and her shoes also have pink in them...and so do her shorts....and her socks. The girl is so incredibly cute in her practice uniform. Can't wait to watch her play!

Trip to the Park

Great day today! The weather is cooling off a bit (as in, it's very pleasant in the morning), so we headed to the park.

And then we came home....

And Reese decided to personally go after me. Not physically. If you've been reading this blog at all, you know what I mean by the attack on the keyboard, the lipstick and lotion incidents, the sprinkles on my floor...this time she went big. She tried to destroy my vacuum (not on purpose, but she thought...look, there's a yellow vacuum....I bet if I start jumping on it over and over again, it'll be fun!). Let's put it this way, I have no problem vacuuming multiple times a week. I actually LIKE my vacuum. I spend time cleaning it out like the instructions say to do. Who really does that? We have a golden retriever who is adorable...and hairy. Killing my favorite "chore" would really chap my hide. However, just when I thought she had broken it, my handsome prince came home and FIXED IT....YES!!!! And so....today was a great day!

The Good and the Bad About a Five Year Old...

The Good-she is quite self-sufficient, she is past those fit throwing days of the two's and three's and most of the time is in a good mood, she's old enough to play games with me so we have mulitple ways to have fun at home, she's old enough to help me cook and is starting to make her own food, I could go on and on and on...

The Bad- she can carry on conversations with other people, but doesn't clarify some important parts of the conversation. EXAMPLE....she was at a friend's house playing today and the mom called and told me that Hailey told them that, "my mom likes to say bad words at least once a day." I mean, REALLY? I nursed her, I do her laundry, I play countless games of Candy Land, I TOOK HER TO DISNEY WORLD, and THIS IS WHAT SHE SAID? The best part is this....there are only two bad words Hailey knows. The first (and the biggest offender) is "stupid." And yes, I have been known to use the word while on the phone or talking to Trey....as in, "well, that's kind of stupid." I don't call people that word....but last year at school, she was taught that the word is AWFUL and that it is never to be said, so I get corrected when it slips. The other word she knows not to say, "hate." So, when I said, "I'd hate to miss our flight" last week. She immediately corrected me and told me that, "we don't HATE ANYONE, Mom!" The other part is this....if any of the other four letter words are said around her (which we DO NOT USE), she has NO IDEA that those are actually bad. And so....I'm now that mom to her friends and their parents....the mom with the potty mouth....even though I don't even have one. Well....I think this is just STUPID and I HATE it. There!

I Dare You...

TO NOT THINK THIS GIRL IS ADORABLE!!! IMPOSSIBLE!!!

By the way, she weighed in at a whopping 18.4 lbs for her 6 month visit. Reese weighed in at 25 and Hailey is still leading the pack (not for long though) at 28 lbs. The question is...who will overtake Hailey first? Crazy Reese or Roly Poly Landry?
