1st Homework Assignment

Hailey had to make a poster that was "All About Me." It was really fun because we flipped through a magazine and she picked out all kinds of things that she likes....not difficult to find when princesses and desserts are involved. Plus, you give her markers and glitter and she's one happy girl. Anyways, I took a picture of the finished product and then she wanted to pose for another picture, so she decided to put on make-up while I took it. She loves the spotlight. I have no idea where she gets that :).

When it comes to Reese, she is convinced that she's four like her sister. She will have nothing to do with highchairs and she does not understand why she can't do everything Hailey does. The newest example....the car headphones. If Hailey can wear them, so can she....even if they only stay on for 20 seconds.

Park Time!

The weather here has been so nice, that we've been going to the park to play in the afternoons. As you can see, Reese is very interested in burning off some energy. Hailey is highly concerned with making sure the bugs leave her alone and with perfecting her roll down a steep hill next to the park. Her question of the day today, "Mom, why did God have to make bugs?" She loves trees and flowers, but anything that flies near the face is a no-go.

What's "peace and quiet?"

So, since we've moved into the apartment, Reese has decided that I should not have the right to do anything in peace and quiet. Example, taking a shower. She always rips open the curtain and stands there squealing at me the entire time. Today, she took it to a new level. Apparently, just standing and talking isn't fun for her anymore, so she brought along her doodle-pro to help her pass the time. Have I mentioned that I'm ready for our house to be done???

Plano Balloon Festival

I must say that I LOVE this time of year. The weather has been fabulous. It makes it impossible to stay inside, so tonight we ventured out to the Plano Balloon Festival. It was so fun and the girls had a blast. Plus, it's the perfect excuse to eat a corndog. The question of the night came from Hailey, "Mom, can you buy me one of those balloons?" Uhhh....I don't think so Hailey.

Home Sweet Home....Almost

We went and did our nightly walk through on the house tonight. I finally remembered to bring my camera along and I took a few pictures. We're approximately 6 weeks away from moving in and we can't wait! Hailey has announced that she wants her room to be "all princesses." We shall see about that.

"No More Shots"

Well, today turned out to be quite the adventure. This was the day (long overdue) that Hailey and Reese had to go to the pediatrician for check-ups. Now, I remember my 4 year old visit to the doctor. I remember because the word at preschool was you had to go to the doctor before kindergarten and get shots in order for the school to let you in. For some reason, I didn't think it would be as traumatic for Hailey. I was wrong. By the time I left, Reese had received three shots, Hailey had four. Plus, Hailey had to have her finger pricked for a blood count. The nurse tried to talk to Hailey and convince her that pricking her finger would be easy....wrong. If my girl sees blood, she's freaking out. The best part of the visit came when both girls were screaming, and I mean inner ear ringing screaming, waiting for the nurse to come back, and Trey called on the cell phone. I let Hailey answer and she said, "DADDY, I WANT YOU TO COME HOME. COME HOME NOW. I NEED YOU TO TAKE CARE OF ME." After the shots were finally given and we were leaving with two visibly scarred children, I was carrying Hailey in one arm, Reese in the other (which looked lovely as I'm 18 weeks pregnant) and Hailey let everyone know on her way out, "MY LEGS AREN'T WORKING! I CAN'T WALK ANYMORE! I SAID NOOOO MORE SHOTS!!!!!" Here's a pic of her reinacting how she felt at the doctors office once we got home. Reese recovered quickly and Hailey decided she knew what would make her feel better...

And as of this evening, Hailey has informed us that she's ok and her legs are working just fine. Whew.

Watch Out World

We have some great news to report in the Smith family today! Reese, Trey and I went to the doctor for my sonogram and the baby looks great and healthy! That is, by far, the news we wanted to hear. We also learned that come February, Trey will have no free hands left as in the picture below because he will be carrying around Smith baby GIRL number 3.

So watch out world, the Smith girls are taking over! Trey and I both feel very blessed and excited to know that we're going to watch three little girls grow up together having sisters. Now, we thought we had our baby name picked out, but APPARENTLY my husband wasn't so keen on the girl name we had chosen. So, back to the drawing board we go....I think it only took us 9 full months to settle on Reese's name, so we've got 5 months left!

It's about time!

Ok, ok, ok....so change isn't always my thing. I registered for this blog back in January with the intent of starting to post entries then and now it's September. I guess that rather than starting with the New Year I'll start with the new school year!

Hailey started preschool this week up at our church. She's in the four year old class. I say this because if you've greeted Hailey lately, then you know she'll say, "Hi, I'm four!" We're still on a birthday high from August. Anyways, she goes three days a week and has loved her first week. Each day when I picked her up she came home talking and talking and talking because she was so excited.

Here's a pic of her before leaving the first day. She's really excited about her rolling backpack this year. We learned last year that she can't carry ones with straps because she tips over since she's so petite (did not inherit that from mom or dad). Personally, I like that the handle is taller than she is!
And while sister is away, Reese and I get to hang out. We started a class at the Little Gym. I don't have a picture of her there, yet...but the child LOVED it. She was all over the place and squealing the entire time. I took this pic of her right after I took Hailey's. I said hi to her and she was waving at me saying hello back
